Birds, Bees & Butterflies 70" x 70" (2009)
Inspired by a very special Indonesian fabric with unique, hand-stamped birds that
run diagonally through the piece. An alternate diagonal features other bird, bee
and butterfly fabrics. There is a "find the match" aspect in that every square is part
of a pair, which are randomly placed - point to one, and search for the other.

South Sea Island 80" x 80" (2008)
Made for my Mom, Marny Cardin’s birthday, with the Buddhist ideas of Earth, Air, Fire and Water
represented in each quadrant. The navy blue and white punctuating fabric was purchased in her
company in San Luis Obispo, alternating with a cross diagonal featuring a "hula girl" fabric I found
as a shirt in my local Red White & Blue thrift shop. The quilt embodies some of her soulful qualities,
as well as her sparkle and effervescence.

Hula Ladies 70" x 70" (2009)
The contrast of black and white, the red cross and four fields of color draw the eye to
the center Hula ladies block. Culled from former Hawaiian shirts and quilted
in "freeform" style, heavy cotton batting adds serious warmth.

Red Cross 80" x 80" (2008)
Working with my favorite strong red to define the central axis, the quadrants of this quilt
represent Earth, Air, Fire and Water. It was exhibited at Art All Night in Trenton
in 2008, and is the first quilt I made using the Viking Mega quilter.

Dragon Cross 48" x 68" (2008)
Made for Dale Cardin, this quilt has a central fire dragon cross from which bands
of floral and stellar fabrics emanate. There is a contrast between Indonesian
and Hawaiian patterns, with the white florablanca flower depicted in each style.
This references a stunning trip we took to Costa Rica as a family in 2006.

Rebecca’s Quilt 50" x 70" (2007)
A "find the match" quilt made including fabric sent to me by artist Rebecca Klementovich.
The batting is a blanket I used during a year-long meditation program; it absorbed many hours of just sitting.
It traveled with me to California and has been hand quilted, a process greatly expedited since
purchasing a Viking Mega quilter machine and frame.

Scrap Quilt 50" x 70" (2008)
The first experiment in using all scraps, randomly selected and pieced together to form 5-inch squares.
As the blocks evolved certain fabrics repeated, placed next to one another they form new shapes and fields of color.

Red Center Scrap Quilt 34" x 76" (2009)
Made with scraps kept over the years, this is a meditation blanket working with the idea that each fabric represents
a thought. The entirety is all together a bit overwhelming, but there is an underlying pattern: each red square
symbolizes the heart center. Through restraint of the senses, the surrounding cacophony can be subdued.
